Richard Torres went to be with his Lord and savior, Jesus Christ early in the morning Oct. 19, 2017, with family at his side. Richard passed at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen, Wash. Richard was born Jan. 5, 1932, to Thomas and Rose Torres in Monterey Park, Calif. He was the youngest of four children.

Richard will be remembered as a hardworking, honest and caring man. His sense of humor and quick wit was appreciated by the many lives he touched. Even as he struggled to recover from abdominal aneurysm surgery, he had those around him with tears in their eyes, laughing. He was the epitome of what a father should be as he helped his children when needed, through the travails of life. His subtle wisdom will long be valued.

As a young man, Richard worked for Carnation in El Monte, Calif. In 1961, he and his wife Suzanne, bought a 320 acre ranch in Myrtle Creek, Ore. There Richard and his wife Suzanne raised their four children and Richard taught the children his work ethic. Richard supported his family working as a Timber faller for Huffman and Wright, and later Roseburg lumber. Upon retiring, Richard along with his wife of over 50 years, Suzanne bought a boat and became commercial fisherman. Richard had a long full life. Even so, he is already greatly missed.

Richard is preceded in death by parents, Tom and Rose Torres, brothers Henry and Tony Torres and a sister, Gloria Franco, wife Suzanne, infant daughter Linda and daughter Valerie Ann Torres. Richard is survived by two sons and a daughter, Richard Stephen Torres and wife Tina, Myrtle Creek, Ore. Steve’s children Suzanne and Charity, David Torres and wife Miriam of Klamath Falls, Ore., Dave’s sons Matthew Torres and wife Jennifer and their daughter Hanna, Nathaniel Torres and wife Alex, their children Kaiden and Uriah, daughter Rebekah Lynn Ohagan (Becca), Becca’s children Barry Ohagan and wife Angie, of Grayland Wash., and their children Isaac, Katelynn and Khloe, Wendy and husband Kevin Christian of Portland, Ore., and their children Maya, Anna and Jaxon and James John Ohagan II (JJ). Richard also leaves behind a very special friend Paula Diamond of Phoenix, Ariz.
