Ray Ernest “Lucky” Hughes Jr., 53, of Elma, Wash., passed away Oct. 14, 2018, while asleep at his home.

A celebration of life will be held at 4 p.m. on Nov. 9, 2018, at the McCleary Community Center.

Ray was born Jan. 11, 1965, in Aberdeen, Wash., to Ray Hughes Sr. and Alta Hughes.

Born into a working-class family, it came as no surprise that Ray became familiar with hard work and handy with tools at an early age. As a young man Ray followed in his father’s footsteps as a logger, until 2005. Ray then left the woods and began working at Quigg Bros. Inc. as a Millwright, where he remained until his untimely death.

Outside of work Ray truly enjoyed his time spent camping, four wheeling, clam digging, and anything that he could do accompanied by his family.

Ray is survived by his wife, Danette Hughes of Elma, Wash.; his four sons Ray Hughes, David Hughes, Dakota Hughes and Carter Hughes; his mother Alta Hughes; four brothers, David Levering, Don Levering Joe Hughes, and Chris Hughes; along with a grandson Liam Hughes and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ray is preceded in death by his father, Ray Ernest Hughes Sr.

Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Twibell’s Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen, Wash.
