M. Dale Poor

M. Dale Poor left this earth on Jan. 17, 2018, at the age of 75. He passed away at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen, Wash.

M. Dale Poor left this earth on Jan. 17, 2018, at the age of 75. He passed away at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen, Wash. He was the loving husband of Sharon Kay Poor. They were married in 1962 and they shared 56 years of marriage together.

Dale was born Nov. 9, 1942, in Plevna, Mo. to Milton Poor and Flossie Montague Poor (both deceased) and a brother, Donald Jean Poor of Bethyl, Mo. (deceased).

He graduated from high school in Edina, Mo. 1n 1960. He then joined the U.S. Navy and headed off to see the world as a Machinist Mate 1st Class. After the Navy, he went to work for Rayonier, Inc. He was the last surviving member of the Crane Creek Lumber Train, where he worked as a brakeman. He then worked for several years at ITT Rayonier as a journeyman millwright.

Following that he owned and managed several different companies: a contracting and construction company, including a glass store before moving into the oil industry.

Dale enjoyed wood working. He made hope chests for his children and grandchildren. He was in the process of crafting his great-grandchildren’s hope chests. He was known for his dry sense of humor and witty comebacks.

Dale is survived by his wife Sharon Kay Walker Poor, a daughter Tammy Poor Hill, a son, Richard Poor and his wife, Lisa and another son, Michael Poor. He also has six grandchildren; Tara and her husband, Dave Wentworth, Mindy and her husband, Carlos Moreno, Brad Braaten and Monica Smith, Josh Poor and his wife, Crystal, Nikki Poor and her husband, Aaron Gwin, Natalie and her husband, Izzy Chavez. He also has six great-grandchildren, Carmin, Carson, Emalynn, Mason, Ruby, Indi and Fiona. A sister, Betty Ann Poor Dixon and her

husband, Dave of Novelty, Mo.; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. He also leaves behind Missy and Molly his faithful and loving Chihuahuas.

There was a family celebration of Dale’s life held Sunday, Jan. 21, 2018, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Cremation arrangements were by the Coleman Mortuary of Hoquiam.
