Edward L. Stewart, known by family and friends over the years as Deacon, Ed and Eddie; died on Dec. 31, 2017, at his home in Hoquiam, Wash. after a long illness of kidney failure. He was born on Aug. 22, 1950, in Dallas, Texas to James Howard and Irene (Stevens) Stewart.

He was married to Norma Phelps of Copalis Crossing. The couple had two daughters prior to their divorce. He then served in the U.S. Army, doing two tours in Vietnam as a Sergeant in the 101st Airborne.

Ed was an avid motorcycle rider and rode with many bikers and bike clubs over the years. He enjoyed the Kid Rock video with the song “Born Free”. He said that was him.

He was later married to Ruth Stewart and they had three daughters. They too were divorced, then Ed was married to Barb Henry.

Ed lived a life of knowing what he wanted and where he wanted to go, did plenty of traveling enjoying his life to the fullest. He said he had no regrets, anyone talking to him would find that Ed had a kind and generous heart when he saw a need. Well he stepped up and took care of what he could. Just like a few weeks before his passing, he and his daughter, Tena saw a homeless man in Aberdeen who looked hungry. When they ordered their meal, Ed asked Tena to order one for this man as well. The blessing came when Ed slipped a $50.00 bill into the sack for this guy. Saying a few kind words as “We all need a little help now and then” as he departed.
