Barbara Ann (Love) Hamilton, 57, a lifelong resident of Aberdeen, died at home, Thursday, Oct. 11, 2018, surrounded by family and friends after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Barb was a woman of tenacity, strength, joy and faith. She was born in Aberdeen, Sept. 29, 1961, the daughter of Gordon M. and Erma B. (Musgrove) Love. She graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1980, earned her LPN in 1982, and continued at Grays Harbor College, receiving her AARN in 1994.

In her early years of nursing, she worked for Dr. Steve Hutton, Pacific Care Center, Harbor Home Health and Hospice before becoming a case manager and medical management coordinator II for Regence Blue Shield. She worked for Regence for 19 years and was blessed to work from her home for the majority of her career. Barb loved being a nurse and was amazing at her job; she was a hard worker, great team member, and well respected by her colleagues who nominated her for multiple honors.

Barbara was an active member of Harbor City Church and a 12 step program, where she met many longtime friends. She was a stay at home mother, campfire leader, Sunday school teacher, devoted mother, grandmother, and friend. Barb enjoyed gardening, baking, going to the beach, and summer vacations with her kids. She especially loved camping at Curlew Lake & Lake Roosevelt, and going to Sunriver, Maui, and Mexico. As her kids grew older, she rented a cabin in Leavenworth every year for a weekend in January to bring her family back together. Another yearly event she enjoyed with family and friends was participating in the MS Walk. Her, “peaceful place” was a family house at Satsop where she could enjoy quiet hours.

Barbara is survived by her daughters: Jayme (Grant) Richardson, and Haylee Hamilton; a son: Richard (Mia) Green; two sisters: Nancy (Kirby) Oldfather, and Donna “Sumatra” Mass; and three grandchildren and one on the way. She also had a faithful companion in her German Shepherd, Bruno. Barb was married to Rick Green for 13 years and Mike Hamilton for 18 years.

A special thank you to all of the caregivers who graciously cared for our mom, especially Marie Hutchins and Alicia Morris. We appreciate all of her friends who visited, brought food, helped with Bruno, and emailed or messaged mom.

A celebration of her life will be held at noon Saturday, Oct. 27, at Harbor City Church, Aberdeen. Pastor Doug Cotton will officiate. Private inurnment will take place in Satsop Cemetery.

The family suggests in lieu of flowers a donation be made to the National MS Society, P.O. Box 4527, New York, NY 10163.
