Audrey Beverley Ostrander, 87, longtime Cosmopolis resident and retired nurse at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen, died Thursday, June 7, 2018, at Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett, Wash.

Audrey Beverley Ostrander, 87, longtime Cosmopolis resident and retired nurse at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen, died Thursday, June 7, 2018, at Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett, Wash.

Audrey was born on July 11, 1930, in Vancouver BC, Canada to Frank Wilfred and Elsie Florence (Taylor) Martin. In the early 1950s, she trained in nursing with the Canadian Air Force, traveling all over Europe. She then took nursing school at Prairie Bible Institute. During her schooling she met and fell in love with a Theology student, Lawrence Ostrander. Following graduation, they were married on July 15, 1957. During their first year of marriage they attended and graduated from the Vancouver Bible Institute in Vancouver, BC, Canada, where their son David and daughter Linda were born. Larry died on Sept. 4, 2017.

The Ostrander family moved to Hoquiam in 1959 where Larry ministered at a South Aberdeen Baptist Church while Audrey went to work at Grays Harbor Community Hospital, the Aberdeen School District and later for Hospice in Grays Harbor. They later moved to south Aberdeen, Wash. and then in 1964 bought their first home in Hoquiam, Wash. In 1972 they built a house in Cosmopolis, Wash. where they remained until Larry’s then Audrey’s passing.

Audrey was very involved in Immanuel Baptist Church in Hoquiam, Wash. where she was a Sunday School teacher and sang in the choir. She also helped Larry lead numerous Bible studies in their home. Audrey and Larry were involved in Child Evangelism Fellowship with Audrey leading Good News Clubs all over the Harbor.

Audrey is survived by one son David Ostrander and wife Kathy of Stanwood, Wash.; three daughters, Linda Ostrander-Dean of Mukilteo, Wash.; Michele Ostrander-Blanchard and Mark Blanchard of Everett, Wash. and Cathy Ostrander-Ream and Johnny of Seattle, Wash.; 12 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
