Trespassing leads to arrest on warrants

Aberdeen Police Department

A man was arrested Thursday in Aberdeen under suspicion of trespassing and possessing drug paraphernalia. He also had an outstanding warrant from Aberdeen Municipal Court and a possible warrant from the state Department of Corrections.

While patrolling in the 200 block of East Wishkah Street, the officer observed a 57-year-old man sitting in a store alcove that was marked with signage to discourage trespassers, police say. According to the officer, the man then slowly moved his hand behind his back and then the officer heard a noise like glass hitting a hard surface.

After handcuffing the man, the officer reportedly found a glass pipe where the man had been sitting, which had burnt residue inside. The said the pipe was there when he sat down. Once handcuffed, the officer searched the man and found no evidence of value. The officer collected the glass pipe as evidence and took the man to the Aberdeen Jail. The man was issued citations for second degree trespassing and possession of drug paraphernalia before being turned over to the state regarding the possible warrant from the state Department of Corrections.
