Suicide prevention workshop Aug. 23 at GHC

Suicide prevention

Suicide prevention and triage training will be offered from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23, in the Schermer Building on the Grays Harbor College Campus in Aberdeen.

Darci S. Jewitt, Youth Suicide Prevention Program Coordinator with Grays Harbor Public Health and Social Services, says the training is for “professionals who have a high degree of contact with those at elevated risk of suicide. You will increase your knowledge and skills in suicide risk detection and initial intervention to immediately reduce the risk of suicide. You will also learn about community mental health supports and resources.”

The event is free and participants are invited to come and go throughout the day as their schedule allows.
