Montesano resident named new Coastal Harvest executive director

Brent Hunter of Montesano has been named the new executive director of Coastal Harvest, the nonprofit food bank distribution center announced Thursday.

“I am excited to take Coastal Harvest to new heights; working within our communities to execute our mission to provide nourishment to our neighbors in need.” said Mr. Hunter. “Coastal Harvest is an important hub of activity, supporting several food programs throughout the region. Those involved in our regional collaborative food distribution networks are passionate about our mission to end hunger, and I am eager to contribute to the effort.”

Hunter has experience in community development, marketing, grant management, food manufacturing and distribution, and fundraising, according to the Coastal Harvest statement. He will focus on building and strengthening stakeholder relationships with community investors interested in helping provide nutritious food for those in need.

“Coastal Harvest has significant opportunities for immediate growth. We have a passionate staff and board, and need a dynamic leader that is prepared to serve the organization and those that depend on us to provide a food secure region,” said Board President Tracy Dugas. “Brent is the right person to command that role.”

Hunter is an Oregon native and has been a resident of Grays Harbor for more than 14 years. He replaces Angela Burton, who had been the executive director from November 2016 to October of last year.
