Krohn recognized for work on fraud and money laundering case

Case prosecuted in Tacoma Federal District Court

Sergeant Shane Krohn has been recognized by the U.S. Postal Service for his work in a 2011 fraud case.

Inspector Anthony Galetti with the Seattle Division, drove to Hoquiam Jan. 12 to present Krohn with a certificate and letter of appreciation for his help with the investigation of a complex mail fraud and money laundering operation involving the manager at a local Hoquiam business.

Sgt. Krohn was praised for his willingness to work with the U.S. Postal Inspection Service to bring the case to a successful conclusion. Through his tenacity and hard work Krohn gathered thousands of records and made the link between the suspect in Grays Harbor to another in California.

The U.S. Postal Inspection Service was the only federal agency that stepped up to adopt the case as the scheme crossed state lines through the mail.

Krohn partnered with the US Postal Inspector to put the case together which resulted in a jury’s guilty verdict against Bill Lonn of Aberdeen. Lonn is to be sentenced this month.
