Grays Harbor Community Foundation awards its biggest ever grant cycle

The Grays Harbor Community Foundation has announced $342,000 in awards through its Community Building Grants program. This is its biggest grant cycle to date with 20 organizations awarded. The projects range from helping families transition into permanent housing, to repairs on local historical buildings, as well as a high school sports complex.

This cycle, the foundation also partnered with The Community Foundation of South Puget Sound to leverage funding for South Beach area nonprofits. It holds a fund that was created in honor of Neddie Farrington many years ago in honor of her legacy in the South Beach area.

The organizations that were funded through the grants program include:

Chaplains on the Harbor — Emergency Shelter

Child Care Action Council — Strengthening Family, Friends & Neighbors programming

Family Promise of Grays Harbor — operations

Gravity — Gravity Project Hope Grant

Grays Harbor College Foundation — 2019-2020 Student Success Grant to assist with childcare

Grays Harbor Youth Works — community building project

Hands on Children’s Museum — sponsored field trips, school-based programming and support for Grays Harbor students and teachers

Hoquiam Elks Lodge — Lodge room floor refinishing and carpet replacement

Hoquiam School District — Grizzly sports complex

Morningside — general operating pupport

Nonprofit Leaders Conference for Coastal & SW WA — 2020 and 2021 Nonprofit Leaders Conference support

Oakville School District — elementary school playground

Olympic Area Agency on Aging — Grays Harbor Senior Emergency Fund

Polson Park & Museum Historical Society — Polson Museum fire alarm systems

South Beach Christian Outreach — building improvements and repairs

South Sound Parent to Parent — Early Learning: Connecting families with individualized early intervention

Special Olympics Washington — sports and health program for the ID community

The Bridge Music Project — songwriting workshops for at-risk and incarcerated youth

The Horse Prayer — therapeutic children’s special needs learning opportunity fund

Grays Harbor Community Foundation Senior Program Officer Jessica Hoover commented: “We are reaching more communities within Grays Harbor every grant cycle and we are proud to offer both necessary services for our residents in need while also supporting fun programs and activities for our local youth.
