Teen charged for driving into flock of seagulls

A 19-year old Chehalis man was arrested and charged with DUI, reckless driving and animal cruelty after an off-duty Ocean Shores Police officer witnessed him drive deliberately into a flock of seagulls, killing several birds. The off-duty officer followed the vehicle off the beach near the West Chance a La Mer approach and detained the man when he stopped on the side of Point Brown Avenue NE until on-duty officers arrived. The man’s girlfriend was in the vehicle and gave a written statement to officers detailing his actions. He is scheduled to make his first court appearance July 19.
