Deal too good to pass up sends one to jail

“A deal that was too good to pass up” proved to be just that when it led to the arrest of an Aberdeen man late Tuesday afternoon.

An Aberdeen Police officer was on patrol eastbound in the 300 block of East River Street when he saw the man, whom he recognized, and a male and female passenger driving a white 1999 Nissan Maxima westbound. The vehicle had been reported stolen to the Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s Office, according to Aberdeen Police Lt. Kevin Darst. The officer turned around and found the Nissan about 100 yards away, but the driver and male passenger had fled. More officers arrived and found the driver and male passenger.

The driver said a friend sold him the vehicle in the middle of the night “for a deal that was too good to pass up,” but had no paperwork to verify his story. The driver was arrested, and the passengers were both questioned and released.
