A 61-year-old man was arrested Sunday evening at a Central Park residence after allegedly stabbing his son in the abdomen, according to the Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s Office.

The suspect and owner of the home vallled 911 shortly after 9 p.m. and said he had stabbed his son with a knife, according to Grays Harbor County Chief Criminal Deputy Steve Shumate. The 39-year-old son was located in a bedroom at the home with a knife wound to the right side of the abdomen. The father was arrested and booked into the Grays Harbor County Jail for first degree domestic violence assault. The son was transported to Grays Harbor Community Hospital for emergency surgery. Shumate said the injuries did not appear life threatening.

The knife used in the stabbing was located and seized.

“It was determined that the father did have a no contact order that prohibited the son from being at the residence. However it appears that the son had been staying at the location (in the 300 block of Pioneer Road) for a period of time,” said Shumate. “Investigators are looking further into why the father used the force that he did under the circumstances.”

The county prosecutor’s office will review the case to determine possible charges for the son violating the no contact order, said Shumate.
