Five performances beginning Friday.

The Willapa Players will present “Opal’s Baby,” written by by John Patrick and directed by Jim White, for five performances at the Hannan Playhouse in Raymond.

The champagne opening is this Friday. Performance dates are March 24-26, March 31 and April 1. Friday and Saturday performances are at 7:30 p.m. with the Sunday matinee at 2 p.m.

Ticketing outlets are South Bend Pharmacy, Everyone’s Video and More, and Pitchwood Alehouse in Raymond. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for seniors and students.

Doors open 30 minutes prior to performances.

The play is being produced in cooperation with Dramatists Play Service.

This is the third “Opal” production with the Willapa Players. (Previous plays by John Patrick were “Everybody Loves Opal” and “Opal’s Million Dollar Duck.”)

In this latest installment, Opal, played by Debby Sturgill, has a visitor looking for a tire to fit his 1927 truck. Misguided into thinking that Opal is a rich eccentric, the shifty visitor, Norman, announces (fallaciously) that he too is a Kronkie — and Opal’s long-lost kin. The warm-hearted Opal takes him, and his whole family, in — whereupon they scheme to do her out of her supposed fortune.
