Aberdeen High School agriscience teacher attends professional development institute

Mike Machowek, agriscience educator at Aberdeen High School, recently attended an eight-day ASP professional development institute at Elma High School to prepare him to teach the Principles of Agricultural Curriculum for Agricultural Science Education (CASE) course at AHS.

During the CASE Institute, Machowek spent 65 hours working through nearly every lesson in the yearlong high school curriculum, learning how to deliver lessons in an inquiry-based manner that will shift focus in the classroom from teacher-led to student-directed learning.

“The CASE curriculum offers a relevant real-world experience for students utilizing hands-on instruction,” said Machowek.
