Trailblazers 8, Chokers 0

Centralia Community College wore down Grays Harbor College and came away with a victory in a NWAC Western Division soccer match at Stewart Field on Saturday.

The Chokers (0-4-0, 1-7-1) played even with the Trailblazers for the first 32 minutes of the contest, but Centralia took advantage of a set play opportunity to take the lead for good. Centralia was able to kick home a ball bouncing in front off a corner kick to score the games first goal.

The Trailblazers added goals in the 34th and 43rd minutes before opening the floodgates for five goals in the second half.

“We got beat down,” GHC coach Chris Schumacher said. “We started focusing on individual battles rather than team battles and we need to play more as a unit. We have to keep our head in the game for 90 full minutes and play to win.”

Schumacher cited the play of Perla Hernandez and Emily Bjornsgard, who played in goal for the Chokers in the first half.

GHC travels to take on Tacoma Community College on Wednesday.
