LACEY — Reagan Glanz and Angel Jones comebined for eight RBIs as Aberdeen thumped River Ridge in a non-league game Wednesday.

After the teams traded three-run first innings, the Bobcats (2-1) dominated the rest of the contest.

Aberdeen head coach Scott Wilson said he was glad to see his team pull it together after a rough start.

“I’m pretty happy, everybody hit the ball,” Aberdeen coach Scott Wilson said. “We settled down with our pitching after the first inning and Tamara Corona played really well defensively at third.”

The Bobcats visit rival Hoquiam today.

PE ELL — Kamryn Adkins pitched a three-inning no-hitter as reigning state 2B champion Pe Ell-Willapa Valley opened its season with a Central League rout of Wahkiakum on Wednesday at Pe Ell.

Katie Adkins was a big par of the offensive attack and came up with three RBIs. Katelyn McGough doubled twice and singled for the Titans.

“They’re a young program but I thought Wahkikuakm battled us hard. They did a nice job of making some plays,” he said.

The Titans will visit Winlock on Friday.

WESTPORT — Cole Hatton and Zach Allton combined on a two-hitter as Ocosta opened its season by blanking Naselle on Wednesday.

The Wildcat pitchers combined for 13 strikeouts.

“We limited them to no runs and we got some timely hitting when needed it,” Wildcat coach Mike Allton said.

Ocosta starts league play with a doubleheader against Life Christian Academy on Tuesday.

NAPAVINE — A five-run Elma rally in the seventh inning fell barely short as the Eagles fell to Napavine in a non-league game Wednesday at Napavine.

Tysen Richardson, Brody Rustemeyer and Micah Swint had two hits each for the Eagles.

Elma head coach Jim Hill was encouraged that his team starting playing to its potential in the seventh inning but said they have to clean up the defensive miscues if they want to win games like this in the future.

”We have to play much better defense and we have to throw the ball over the plate,” Hill said. “ We have to develop a little pride in our defense.”

The Eagles visit Rochester today.
