Willapa Valley found an offensive rhythm in the third quarter, besting the Trojans 22-11.

BOYS PREP BASKETBALL

WF West 58, Aberdeen 50

After a slow start, Aberdeen played catch-up most of the night in suffering a 58-50 loss to WF West in Chehalis on Thursday.

The Bobcats (4-6, 0-2 Evergreen 2A) fell behind 18-8 by the end of the first quarter and couldn’t get over the hump as the Bearcats’ Carter McCoy finished the game with 25 points to help keep the Aberdeen at bay.

“We started out flat in the first quarter but quickly realized our effort and energy had to change to keep things within reach,” Aberdeen head coach Mark Buckman said. “We responded in the second half, but Carter McCoy was already in an offensive rhythm down low for the Bearcats.”

Kayden Seibert scored 15 points with Wyatt Johnson and Gio Pisani added nine apiece for the Bobcats.

“Overall, it was a good effort, but we have to be more focused on the road,” Buckman said.
