Chief Leschi 73, Raymond 59

Too many mistakes led to Raymond’s 73-59 loss to Chief Leschi on Tuesday in Puyallup.

The Seagulls (7-8, 5-4 2B Pacific) trailed 31-28 at the half before the Warriors (10-4, 6-2) scored 42 points in the second half as turnovers became a problem for Raymond.

”Turnovers killed us tonight. Leschi played some great pressure defense and we didn’t handle it well,” said Raymond head coach Mike Tully, whose team cut the deficit to as close as six points midway through the fourth quarter but saw the game get away from them. “We did some good things when we were able to get them into a halfcourt game. Talan Yearout (18 pts.) used his size advantage to have a huge game for us and Austin Snodgrass (13 pts.) overcame some early foul trouble to have a good game as well.”

Raymond sits in fourth place in the 2B Pacific League and will host third-place Forks at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
