The Huskies continue to haul in postseason recognition following a meteoric and unexpected rise to the top of the Pac-12.

After sweeping the top three individual honors in the conference on Monday, Washington did it again Tuesday in the Associated Press balloting, only this time Matisse Thybulle claimed the player of the year award ahead of his teammate Jaylen Nowell.

And Mike Hopkins was chosen the AP Pac-12 coach of the year after leading Washington to a Pac-12 regular-season championship and a 24-7 record.

Nowell and Oregon State’s Tres Tinkle were unanimous picks on the AP All-Pac-12 first team and joined by Thybulle, Washington State’s Robert Franks and USC’s Bennie Boatwright.

On Tuesday, the Sporting News named Thybulle an honorable mention All-American. He’s a semifinalist for the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year award, which will announce finalist on Thursday.

The 6-foot-5 senior guard, who leads the nation with 3.55 steals per game and is 18th with 2.32 blocks, is the only Division I player who ranks in the top 20 in both categories. He tied a Pac-12 single-season record with 110 steals and has 72 blocks to become the only player in the past 20 years with at least 100 steals and 70 blocks.

Thybulle also averages 9.5 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.2 assists.

Earlier this week, he won a second straight Pac-12 defensive player of the year award and was selected first team all-conference.

Nowell, a 6-4 sophomore guard, leads Washington in scoring (16.3 points per game) and assists (3.1) while shooting 50.5 percent from the field and 42.7 percent on three-pointers.

Arizona State freshman guard is the AP Pac-12 newcomer of the year.

Thybulle and Nowell were also selected to the U.S Basketball Writers Association All-District IX team.
