Montesano football honored with officials association’s scholarships

Hale, Romero receive scholarships via SSFOA’s sportsmanship scholarship program

The Montesano football program officially announced its award winners for the 2024 South Sound Football Officials Association’s sportsmanship scholarship program.

The Bulldogs were named the SSFOA’s scholarship winners for 1A, 2B and 1B-class teams back in November and officially announced the two individuals that will each receive a $1,000 scholarship.

Montesano seniors Marcus Hale and Felix Romero, each of whom have earned all-state honors in their prep careers, were honored as the two scholarship recipients ahead of the Bulld0gs boys varsity basketball game against the Elma Eagles on Friday at Montesano High School.

Montesano head coach Terry Jensen also accepted the sportsmanship honor from SSFOA President Jeff Gottlieb on behalf of the Bulldogs team on Friday.

The SSFOA has been awarding the sportsmanship scholarships since 1998 and named Montesano as well as the Aberdeen Bobcats (4A, 3A, 2A class) as award winners for the 2024 season.
