BOYS PREP BASKETBALL

Raymond 49, North Beach 29

Raymond picked up a key 2B Pacific League victory 49-29 over North Beach on Tuesday at North Beach High School.

The Seagulls (9-9 overall, 7-4 2B Pacific) led 20-13 after one quarter and held the Hyaks (7-11, 2-8) to 16 points over the final three quarters of the game.

“We had a good defensive effort tonight,” said Raymond head coach Mike Tully, whose team scored just 14 points in the second half. “We looked good at times on offense in the first half, then went cold in the second half.”

Seagulls junior guard Chris Quintana (17 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals) and senior wing Austin Snodgrass (15 pts., 5 reb., 3 steals) each scored in double digits for Raymond.

”Chris Quintana and Austin Snodgrass were both doing a good job knocking down shots early,” Tully said. “Luckily, our defense really clamped down in second half and we didn’t need to score much to maintain our lead.”

North Beach was led by Tyrrell Curry Sith with eight points.

The Hyaks sit in fifth-place in the 2B Pacific League and host South Bend at 7 p.m. on Thursday.

Fourth-place Raymond faces Onalaska at 7 p.m. Saturday at Onalaska High School.
