In the second half, Aberdeen doubled its lead when winter Colby Mendoza scored on a header off a cross from midfielder Edwin Quintana for a 2-0 advantage in the 44th minute.

The two would combine for Aberdeen’s third goal just seven minutes later when Mendoza converted another Quintana cross for a 3-0 lead.

Bobcats midfielder Gilberto Lopez would close out the scoring with 20 minutes left in the game, rocketing a shot into the net from 30 yards out as Aberdeen won 4-0.

Ocosta sophomore pitcher Jessie Gilbert had a record-breaking performance with 22 strikeouts in a win earlier this month.

On Tuesday, she may have outdone herself.

Gilbert struck out 20 and hit a game-winning, walk-off home run in a 1-0 win over Ilwaco in the first game of a double header in Westport.

Gilbert matched goose eggs with Ilwaco ace Megan Dille for six innings in the game that featured two of the 2B class’ premiere pitchers.

In the bottom of the seventh, Gilbert sent Dille’s 1-1 pitch over the left field fence to end the game and set off a Wildcats celebration at home plate.

Gilbert also dominated in the circle, allowing just two hits and a walk while striking out 20 of the 24 batters she faced.

Gilbert threw 100 pitches in the game, 74 for strikes.

Dille held Ocosta (3-1) to just two hits in the game on eight strikeouts and a pair of walks.

Ocosta’s Gabby Ness had the Wildcats’ other base hit on the evening, recording a one-out double in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Down 5-3 in the top of the seventh, a Rosander single followed by an Ilwaco error allowed Noel Cuzdey to score, bringing Ocosta to within a run at 5-4 with one out and the tying run at second base.
