Grizzlies lose in three
LA CENTER — King’s Way Christian ended Hoquiam’s season by topping the Grizzlies, 25-16, 25-11, 25-22, in the opening round of the District IV Class 1A Tournament on Wednesday night at La Center.
By failing to survive the single-elimination opening round, the Grizzlies concluded play with an 8-8 record.
King’s Way Christian proved too steady for the Grizzlies in rallies on Wednesday.
“We went in very nervous and just not as confident as we had been playing,” Hoquiam coach Heather Bozich said. “King’s Way didn’t make a lot of mistakes. They kept the ball in play very well.”
Karlie Krohn and Kamimi Papp led Hoquiam hitters with six kills apiece. Kacey Pelan had 16 assists and ReyLynn Dunn brought up 15 digs.
Bozich also cited the reserve play of Sunshine Dick and Rylee Vonhof.
“I’m really proud of how these girls came together (late in the season),” Bozich concluded. “They worked very hard.”
