Violet Medak B.8-10-1928, D.3-21-2018

Vi died from complications following a stroke.

Vi died from complications following a stroke. She had been ill for the past several months. She was born in Aberdeen, Wash. to John and Gertrude (Mathews) Medak, attended schools there and graduated in 1946 from Weatherwax High School. She attended Eastern Washington College of Education where she earned her teaching certificate, and then began teaching in the early 1950s in Washougal, Wash., where she is fondly remembered yet today and was often invited to class reunions of those students she taught way back then. She moved to the Seattle area in the early 1970s teaching at Sunset Jr. High, and then Evergreen High School as Councillor. She held two Master’s Degrees, Principal’s Credentials and was listed in the Who’s Who in America’s Teachers.

She is survived by her three siblings, Martin Medak of California, Frank Medak of Yakima, Wash., and Walt Medak of Vancouver, Wash., along with several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Pearl and brothers John, Pete and Jack.

There is a unique void where she once stood, never again to be filled with the likes of her. Such a loss that we’ll never hear that infectious little laugh again.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, at Fern Hill.
