Verna Louise Johnson 91, passed away peacefully at Harbor Regional Health Community Hospital after a brief illness.

Verna was born on April 11, 1930, in Ballard, Washington to Harry and Elva (Moore) Dixon and graduated from Moclips High School in 1948, where she took great pride in being a part of the Moclips girls basketball team.

After graduation she married Howard “Buck” Logan and they had three children. They later divorced.

She worked hard as a single mom to make sure her small children had everything they needed. She walked to work in the early morning hours to Hoquiam from Aberdeen, to the Royal Café, and then back home after her shift because she wouldn’t spend the money for the bus.

Verna married Arlis Johnson January 12, 1963. He preceded her in death in 2007.

After marrying Arlis, Verna was able to enjoy being home taking care of her children, and they blessed the family with two more children.

Verna later returned to part-time work and was a familiar and friendly face in the places she worked like Kneipp’s Jewelry, Diet Center and Carole’s Young Things.

She was active in the Hoquiam Elks Emblem Club and Beta Sigma Phi where she formed many lifetime friendships.

Verna got much pleasure from watching the Mariners and Seahawks and many activities of her children and grandchildren through the years.

She loved nature shows and game shows, very seldom missing an episode of her favorite, Jeopardy. She was devastated at the loss of Alex Trebeck . She looked forward to visits from her children and grandchildren always ready to “beat” them at a game of rummy. She was an avid reader and loved her word search puzzles.

Verna is survived by her loving children: Glenn (Sandy) Logan of Puyallup, Chuck (Cari) Logan of Hoquiam, Kathye (Mike) Lano of Montesano, Susan (Dan) Campos of Hoquiam and Dan Johnson of Tacoma; five grandchildren: Michael (Nila) Lano of Montesano, Whitnye (Billy) Stuefen of Aberdeen, Christopher (Kaela) Logan of Montesano, Kelsey (Matt) Smith of Adna, and Chad (Kalene) Campos of Aberdeen; eight great-grandchildren with another on the way in February and one great-great-grandson. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her sister Laura Gabriel and her brother Richard “Dick” Dixon of Aberdeen.

Her family would like to thank her Channel Point family for always being so thoughtful and caring of her.

At Verna’s request there will be no service.
