On Sept. 1, Norma June Smith Sandiford, daughter of George and Teddy Smith, born March 10, 1935, and loving wife of 36 years to Newel Sandiford, passed away after a six month illness. She was known by all her friends and family as June. There are many names that she has answered to over the years, daughter, sister, niece, momma, aunty, cousin, but her favorite were grandma and great-grandma. Her greatest joy were the grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and as of late her two newest additions a great-great-grandson and great-great-granddaughter.

June could often be found in the garden surrounding her home. She loved spending time with her husband enjoying the peace and beauty. Among her many hobbies were knitting and crocheting. Her greatest love was bowling. Any given week you could find her name in the paper for highest game or series. She has many awards that reflect her skill.

June retired from Boeing after a career of more then 30 years. She was an electrical technician and worked on the first 707. Since retiring, traveling throughout the country was a fun adventure.

June was preceded in death by her parents George and Theodora (Teddy) Keiser Smith, and her brothers Clifford and Vernon Smith. She is survived by her husband Newel Sandiford, daughters DeAnne (Dee) Oberlander and Georgia (Jo) Akin (Rick), and son Buck (Barb) Rogers.
