Kathleen Lucile Failor-Sowers

On Sunday, Jan. 2, 2022, Kathleen Lucile Failor-Sowers passed away at Virginia Mason Hospital in Seattle. Washington.

On Sunday, Jan. 2, 2022, Kathleen Lucile Failor-Sowers, loving mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and friend, passed away at age 75, at Virginia Mason Hospital in Seattle, Washington. She had lived in Montesano for 50 years.

Kathleen was born on May 2, 1946, in Aberdeen, Washington to Lewis Walter Failor II and Hazel Lena (Carl) Failor. She attended McDermoth Grade School, Miller Jr. High and graduated high school from Weatherwax High School in 1964.

She also attended Grays Harbor Community College and went to lab tech school in Seattle where she ended up working in the dental field for a short period of time. Kathleen worked for the family business at Walt Failor Sporting Goods in Aberdeen, Everybody’s Grocery in Elma and the Montesano School District where she retired in 2013 after 24 years of employment. Kathleen also managed the Babe Ruth concession stand for many years at Pioneer Park in Aberdeen. In 1972, Kathleen married Rex Sowers. They later divorced.

Kathleen had a love for gardening her dahlias and raspberries, her many family pets, flying planes, clam digging, sewing and baking, but her greatest love was spending time her children and grandchildren. She loved traveling to Maui and Alaska. Kathleen was known for her quick wit, her infectious smile, her sense of humor; and her kind and compassionate spirit.

She is survived by her daughter Julia Sowers of Tumwater, Washington; her son Adam (Anna) Sowers of Lacey, Washington; her bonus daughter Kristi (Steve) Cress of Normandy Park, Washington; her grandchildren: Haley Mae Sowers, Alexxi Timmons and Austin Timmons; brother Walter (Teri) Failor Jr,; sister Vicki (Mike) Solberg, brother Robert (Betta) Failor, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, and her beloved dog Max.

She is proceeded in death by her parents Walt and Hazel Failor and her sister Sherrie Loertscher.

There will be a celebration of life service and potluck to celebrate Kathleen’s life on Jan. 29, 2022, at the Rotary Log Pavilion in Aberdeen, Washington at 1 p.m. Her family invites all that knew and loved Kathleen to attend.
