Ezera James Barber was born into this world on Aug. 6, 2005, in Pullman, Washington to Melissa Robbins and James Barber Jr.

On June 30, 2022, in Anchorage, Alaska Ezera and his dog Loki were taken from this world by a fatal car accident, a little over a month shy of his 17th birthday. Loki who was always so protective of the boys was there till the end.

Ezera moved to Sitka, Alaska at the age of two, with his parents and siblings. He attended Baranoff Elementary and Keet Goochi Heen Elementary.

He moved to Anchorage, Alaska in 2014, where he eventually attended Bartlett High School. In 2021, he and his brother Asa moved to Hoquiam Washington, to live with their grandmother where he attended Aberdeen High school.

Ezera was most proud of his work with the Special Ed students in his weight lifting class. It was told that he always made them smile and feel as included as anyone else, laughing and joking through the whole class.

Ezera loved Sitka and all the beauty it had to offer. When he wasn’t in school he was outside enjoying everything the town had to offer. He was an Alaskan native Tlingit, a member of the Kiksadi clan (raven/frog).

In all of the places he called home he managed to find the best people and enjoy his life to the fullest. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, Dwight and Alex, to name a few. Reading, long boarding and finding the beauty everywhere he went.

Ezera was loved fiercely by his parents. He will remain one of the brightest lights in their lives as he lives now in their hearts.

He leaves a huge hole in the hearts of his family and friends who were always entertained by his smile, stories and sense of humor. He truly brought life and light into everyone that he knew.

His relationships with his siblings were unmatched. Family meant everything to Ezera. He was fiercely protective of those he loved.

He thoroughly enjoyed spending lots of time with his two younger brothers doing the things boys do and then of course there was his older sister Summer, who had wished on a shooting star one lonely night in 2004 for a companion, a sibling, someone to share her life with. She would, from that point on, call him her “Wish on a star baby.” Never was he more at peace than when he was with his sister.

His brother Asa was born in 2008 and even though the brothers were three years apart in age, they were closer than any two other siblings we had ever seen. They always had each other’s back no matter how bad the situation might get. Where there was one you saw the other. And so it went.

Ezera is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Boyd Didrickson of Sitka, great-maternal grandparents Everett and Phyllis Webb, great-Paternal grandparents Chuck and Betty Bishop, and his uncle Terry Bishop from Hoquiam.

He is survived by his mother Melissa Rank, father James Barber Jr., grandmothers Judith Robbins and Maryellen Bishop, siblings Summer Robbins, Asa Barber, Tristan Bacon and Zoriah Barber Newcastle and nephew Raiden Svilar.

Ezera was a very special young man from the moment of his birth.

He will be forever in our thoughts and from the depths of his beautiful blue eyes, his love will live on in our hearts forever.
