Clarence Samuel Watkins Jr., age 86, a resident of Central Park for the past 35 years, died on Nov. 21, 2018, at his home in Central Park. Mr. Watkins was born on May 28, 1932, in Yakima, Wash. to Clarence S. Sr. and Ruth I. (Gerhardt) Watkins. At an early age, the family moved to Hoquiam.
Clarence enlisted in the United States Army and served in Korea. After his discharge, he returned to Hoquiam where he and Wanda Rose Ebrecht were married. To this couple were born three sons, David, James and Erin. They had been married 28 years prior to their divorce.
On March 5, 1984, he and Wilma Jean Henry were married in South Dallas, Texas. Jean survives at the family home in Central Park.
He had worked for the Long Foundry before working for the City of Hoquiam where he retired in 1996 as a Filter Plant Operator. Clarence was an avid fisherman and bowled three times a week. He had been a member of numerous bowling leagues.
In addition to his wife Jean, surviving relatives include children, David, James and Erin Watkins; Scott and Bruce Henry, Debi Pieraccini, Cynthia Longmead and Karen Stutesman; a brother Bill Watkins and a sister, Shirley McKinney. There are many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2018, at the Hoquiam VFW, 407 – 7th Street, Hoquiam.
An urn committal service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 4, at the Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Wash.
Cremation arrangements are by the Coleman Mortuary in Hoquiam.
