Chadwick Jacob Mittleider, 52 of Montesano, Washington went home to be with his Lord on Dec. 2, 2021.

Chadwick Jacob Mittleider, 52 of Montesano, Washington went home to be with his Lord on Dec. 2, 2021. He was born June 4, 1969, to Arvid and Eva (Watson) Mittleider in Ellendale, North Dakota.

He attended Ellendale schools until 1987 where he was the captain of his football and basketball teams. Chad would visit his sisters Ferell and Cindy every summer and worked the charter boats in Westport. Chad eventually relocated to Westport, Washington, where he went on to graduate from Ocosta High School with the class of 1988.

In 1995, Chad met the love of his life Danielle Busz. Chad and Danielle were married Dec. 14, 1996, at the Grand Heron Ballroom in Aberdeen, Washington. On Aug.t 4, 1999, he and Danielle welcomed their daughter, Kaydee Elizabeth into the world. They later made their home in Montesano, Washington.

In 1990, Chad began his journey in the fire service, joining the Ocosta Fire Department and then the Westport Fire Department and South Beach Ambulance Service as a volunteer. He later obtained his EMT certification and became one of the first members of the South Beach Ambulance Service’s paid staff. In 1997, he received his Paramedic certification and continued to work for South Beach Ambulance until 1999.

Chad was hired by the Aberdeen Fire Department on Aug. 2, 1999. He was promoted to the position of Fire Engineer on July 1, 2009, a rank that he served in until his passing. Chad coached many youth sports, including basketball and softball. He loved mentoring youth. Through coaching, he taught many important life skills.

Chad was also the Owner/Operator of Mitts Tractor Works, an earth moving and landscaping business. Through his company, he was able to donate time and equipment for improving youth athletic fields in the area. Chad loved fishing, bowling, farming, winning at cards, and spending time with family and friends.

Chad is survived by his wife Danielle and daughter Kaydee of the family home in Montesano, Washington; his mother Eva Mittleider of Ellendale, North Dakota; sisters: Cindy (Dennis) Kummer of Westport, Washington; Ferell (Virgil) Otterstetter of Aberdeen, Washington; Wonada (Daryl) Lematta of Ellendale, North Dakota; Robin (Dean) Geffre of Leola, South Dakota and brother Garrett (Amy) Mittleider of Ellendale, North Dakota; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Arvid Harold Mittleider in 2018.

Chad was laid to rest during a small private service held at St. John’s Cemetery in the Wishkah Valley on Dec. 14, 2021.

There will be a public memorial service held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022, at the Aberdeen High School Auditorium.
