Brenda Janette (Gill) Layman passed away at her home in Raymond, Wash., on May 1, 2017. She was born July 11, 1940, in Wiscoal, Ky. to William and Mary Gill.

Brenda’s early childhood years were spent in Tennessee before moving to Morton, Wash. While attending Morton School, she met the love of her life Chester Layman. Brenda and Chet married in 1957 and raised six kids together. Along with their six kids there was always a house full of others. She was known as “mom” to many.

Brenda was a dedicated homemaker and loved spending time in her yard. She enjoyed many hours of fishing with her family, especially Chet. She loved animals and over the years had quite a menagerie of pets. She enjoyed listening to music and liked to “Rock Out”.

Preceded in death by her parents and only sibling; brother Clyde Gill and her husband Chet. She is survived by her children Chet (Geri) of South Bend, Wash., Cori Gill Layman of Olympia, Wash., Hank of Centralia, Wash., Edie Layman of Raymond, Wash., Monty of Graham, Wash. and Willa Emerson (Doug) of Silverlake, Wash.; grandchildren, Tyson, Toni, Whitney, Rayce, Lexie, Jesse, Matt, Ryan, Eric and 11 great-grandchildren. Among the survivors are some special friends Val, Eric, Darv, Mel and Lee.
