Willapa Valley fundraiser set

The annual Willapa Valley High School Athletic Fundraiser is set for 4-7 p.m. on Friday, March 10 at the Willapa Valley High School commons.

There will be a dinner — chili or clam chowder, rolls, salad, dessert and drink — for $10 and a silent auction. All proceeds will go to the Willapa Valley Athletic Reserve Fund.

The school is also selling old Willapa Valley football game jerseys (red, white and blue) for $25 each.

For more information or tickets, contact John Peterson at (360) 942-2006.

Nowitzki scores 30,000 point

Dallas Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki became only the sixth NBA player to score 30,000 career points when he hit a 15-foot jumper against the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday.

Nowitzki scored all 25 of his points in the first half against the Lakers.

The 38-year-old Nowitzki joins Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Karl Malone, Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan and Wilt Chamberlin as the only members of the 30,000 point club.

Nowitzki, Bryant and Malone are the only ones to score all 30,000 with one team.
