PUD, Paramount launch East County fiber expansion

Using a $6.9-million grant from the Washington State Broadband Office, Grays Harbor PUD and Paramount Communications have begun work to expand the utility fiber and broadband network in South Elma, Porter and Cedarville areas.

“The Grays Harbor PUD appreciates your patience and understanding as we complete this project,” said Telecom Business Coordinator Sara Travers. “Our teams are committed to working safely and efficiently to bring improved broadband services to your area.”

Over the coming months, residents will notice construction crews from Paramount Communications, working along roadways in the area. As part of this work, there may be temporary ground disturbance, locate flags marking underground utilities, and other signs of active construction.

Once complete, the roughly 500 customers in the area will have access to the PUD fiber network and internet service providers.

What to expect during broadband construction:

Construction crews and equipment operating along public rights-of-way and easements.

Ground disturbance as conduit and fiber optic cable are installed.

Locate flags or paint markings identify underground utilities — please do not remove these markers as they help identify underground utilities and services.

Occasional short-term traffic impacts; crews will work to minimize disruptions as much as possible.

Some construction noise and dust should be expected during normal working hours.

After construction, crews will work to restore disturbed areas as close as possible to their original condition.
