Riley Gilbert, 14, received her first Christmas gift — a new bike — Saturday. Riley, who hasn’t had a new bike in a couple of years, rode her North Carolina Tar Heel-painted bike around as she and her mom, Kim, smiled. The bike is courtesy of the Aberdeen Lions Club’s program “Bicycles from Heaven,” which, after a simple application through the Salvation Army, provides children and teenagers bikes. Riley can’t wait to show hers off to her friends.
