One medevac’d following single-vehicle crash on 101

Winter weather can make driving perilous

A Raymond man was airlifted following a motor vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon between Cosmopolis and Raymond.

The 55-year-old man was traveling southbound in a 2015 Honda, according to a Washington State Patrol report, before leaving the roadway and striking a power pole, and being ejected from the vehicle.

The man was not wearing a seatbelt, according to the WSP report, and was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital. Drugs or alcohol were not a factor, according to the report.

A semi-trailer lost control, blocking the road in the same area the previous day, said Trooper Katherine Weatherwax of the WSP, encouraging drivers to travel safely in winter conditions. Roadways can sometimes be a few degrees colder than the air temperature, Weatherwax said.
