The City of Hoquiam has reopened its parks. Other than Olympic Stadium, all city parks are now open, including those with playground equipment, according to an order issued Friday by Mayor Ben Winkelman.
The parks were closed March 13 in an effort to help stem the spread of COVID-19 in the city. The county is now in Phase 2 of Gov. Jay Inslee’s Safe Start Washington plan, which allows for the reopening of parks.
“Citizens will be allowed access to city parks at their own risk, and shall be encouraged to maintain social distancing and take all other precautions recommended by the CDC and state Health Department, and the Grays Harbor County Health Department,” read the mayor’s order.
City Hall and other public buildings in the city will remain closed to public access until the county is authorized to implement Phase 3 of the Safe Start Washington plan, concluded the order.
