A 22-year-old Aberdeen man is facing charges of driving under the influence and vehicular assault after a three-vehicle accident on Highway 12 about 6 miles east of Aberdeen sent two drivers to the hospital, according to a State Patrol report.
The Aberdeen man was westbound on Highway 12 shortly after 9:15 p.m. when his Kia Sportage struck a 2018 Kenworth tanker truck, then struck a Dodge Dakota pickup, according to the report. The Kia and Dakota both rolled, and the Kia came to rest against the cement barrier facing west in the left lane of westbound Highway 12. The Dakota came to rest on its top in the right westbound lane.
The Kia driver and the driver of the Dodge Dakota, described as a 54-year-old Montesano man, were both injured and taken to Grays Harbor Community Hospital with undisclosed injuries. The driver of the tanker truck, a 43-year-old Tenino man, was not injured.
Westbound Highway 12 was fully blocked for four hours during the investigation with traffic adjusted to alternate in the eastbound lanes, according to the report.
