Driver in hit-and-run contacted by police as charges are forwarded

The case is now with the prosecutor’s office

An Aberdeen man was arrested Thursday following a hit-and-run that left a teenager hospitalized.

The 33-year-old Aberdeen resident is currently released from custody as the prosecutor’s office puts the case together, said Lt. Brian Dayton of the Hoquiam Police Department.

The crash occurred Thursday morning around 7:30 a.m. in Hoquiam. The victim, a 17-year-old girl, was struck while crossing at a crosswalk and transported to Harbor Regional Health by the Hoquiam Fire Department. Police investigating the case made contact with the man, whose name hasn’t been released pending formal charges, on Thursday evening around 6:30, Dayton said. The man was cooperative, Dayton said, and presented no resistance.
