Dist. 24 House candidates will take part in virtual forum

The Clallam County League of Women Voters has organized virtual candidate forums for primary election races for two Legislative District 24 positions.

On July 23, the league will host a live forum for Legislative District 24, Position 1. Access the forum at tinyurl.com/ycq353zt. The meeting ID is 839-1866-1039. The password is 893997.

Candidates include incumbent Mike Chapman, a Port Angeles Democrat; Sue Forde, a Sequim Republican; and Daniel Charles Svoboda, a Port Hadlock Republican. All of them are expected to participate in the forum.

On July 30, the league will host a live forum for Legislative District 24, Position 2. Access the forum at tinyurl.com/y8mapxcj. The meeting ID is 836-9253-8571. The password is 650097.

Candidates are incumbent Steve Tharinger, a Port Townsend Democrat; Darren Corcoran, an Elma Democrat; Brian Pruiett, a Carlsborg Republican; and Jodi Wilke, a Port Townsend Republican. All have confirmed but for Corcoran, who has declined to participate.

Primary election ballots will go out later this week. The top two voter-getters will go on to the November general election on Nov. 3.

The public may submit questions and the deadline for emailing info@lwvcla.org with concise questions for the candidates is 5 p.m. the day before the forum, although questions also will be taken during the online forum. When submitting forum questions via email, include your full name and on the subject line say which forum the question is intended for.

Each of the Zoom forums are at 6 p.m. Those who prefer to call in, can dial 1-253-215-8782 for each forum.

During the forums, candidates in attendance will be invited to provide their qualifications, their reasons for running and their goals if elected, as well as answer questions from voters.
