Court awaiting competency report for Soliz

Murder charge

Shana Soliz update

Shana Soliz, the 45-year-old Hoquiam woman charged with stabbing Paul Mottinger, 59, at the home they shared in Hoquiam in February, was scheduled to appear in Superior Court this week, but she is still at Western State Hospital undergoing “competency restoration.”

Grays Harbor Prosecutor Katie Svoboda said her latest evaluation was not presented to the court prior to the scheduled hearing.

“She is slated to be evaluated and I anticipate we will get the results of that evaluation this week,” said Svoboda. If the report is given to the court Soliz will have a competency hearing in the coming week. If she is found competent to stand trial the first degree murder criminal case against her will proceed.
