Monte church to host live Nativity

The annual event, called “The Hope of Christmas,” is a 40-year tradition for Montesano Presbyterian.

Montesano Presbyterian Church will stage a live outdoor Nativity scene next Saturday, Dec. 19.

The annual event, called “The Hope of Christmas,” is a 40-year tradition for the church, according to Linda Taylor, one of the organizers.

“With everything being canceled this year, we knew the one thing that will never be canceled is hope,” she said.

The scene will be set up in the church’s parking lot at 210 E. McBryde Ave. Families may drive by between 6 and 7 p.m. to view the scene safely from their vehicles.

Retired businessman Stormy Glick will provide one or two donkeys from his own stable for the scene, as he has done in previous years. Church members dressed as Roman centurions will be posted at the exit to accept donations for the local food bank.

Who will be playing the key roles in the Nativity?

“We have a new pastor, Patrick Cobb, and (his) family from Texas who are willing to brave the weather elements — a night I am sure they will remember!” said Taylor.
