Grayland Hall work party a success

Submitted by Carolyn Barker

Director, Grayland Community Hall

The Grayland Community Hall got a facelift last weekend as several local volunteers put a fresh coat of paint on the interior walls and trim of the main hall. This was preceded by hours of scraping and spackling the many nail holes that had been created throughout the years.

Caulking and weather stripping also was done to seal out winter drafts, and a wooden hand rail was built for the front steps to the stage.

South Beach Park and Recreation board members also participated.

Not all of the projects were completed. If anyone would care to donate a few hours to do a bit more painting and/or cleaning of wood paneling and wood steps, please call 360-580-1803.

The SBPR board also wishes to create reciprocity amongst all facilities that make up the South Beach region. This includes those within the area from Tokeland to Westport and points east along Grays Harbor. Representatives of recreation facilities and ballfields in the area may contact SBPR commissioners or visit a regular meeting at the Grayland Community Hall on the first Tuesday of the month at 6 p.m. The next meeting is Feb. 5.
