The Westport South Beach Historical Society’s quarterly potluck will be held Friday at 6 p.m. at McCausland Hall.

The event will include a presentation of findings from the 2018 professional review of the Grays Harbor Lighthouse.

Executive Director John Shaw said the society contracted with historic preservation architect Sue Licht, who — along with masonry and metal experts — completed a comprehensive review and complete sounding of the lighthouse. Review of this type was a key element in the successful restorations of the Heceta and Yaquina lighthouses in Oregon as well as Washington’s North Head Lighthouse, which is currently being restored under Licht’s guidance.

The study was made possible through matching grant funds from the South Sound Community Foundation’s Neddie Farrington Fund and the Grays Harbor Community Foundation.

Society President Pete Eberle and members of the lighthouse restoration committee will make presentations and answer questions at Friday’s event.

Spring cleanup at the lighthouse will begin Saturday at 8 a.m., with projects going on until 3 p.m. The public is invited to assist in getting the grounds cleaned up after the winter months and ready for South Beach visitors.
