Hagen wins Grays Harbor Amateur

When the final putt dropped on Sunday, Eric Hagen emerged the winner of the Grays Harbor Amateur.

The Aberdeen resident finished with a gross total of 142 to win the regular division of the two-day tournament at Grays Harbor Country Club. Hagen, who is a member of the men’s golf team at the University of Denver, made plenty of good shots over the weekend including a tee shot to two feet on No. 7 to win the closest to the pin on the hole.

Justin Cox, who played golf at Grays Harbor College last season, continued to play strong golf and fired a 144 to finish second in the gross competition. Jay Dotson carded a total of 148 for two days to place third.

Chris Grubb of Montesano turned in a net score of 131 to win the net portion of the tournament for the regular division. Grubb also fired a tee shot to just inside five feet away on No. 4 to win the closest to the pin. Steve Natwick carded a 134 net to place second with Tandy Alexander turning in a 138 to place third.

In the senior division, it was John Stullick who emerged victorious with a 152 gross. Ed Klein finished second with a 158 gross.

Ron Martinez took the top prize in the senior division for the net score with a 140, just one stroke ahead of Tim Paker. Carl Sperring and Fritz Bramstedt tied for third in the net each firing a total of 143.
