A man reported missing near Humptulips on Tuesday was the subject of a major search and rescue effort by the Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s Office.

Archie Emery, 67, was found in Aberdeen, having taken a bus into town without informing anyone of his location, said Undersheriff Kevin Schrader.

The search was a major effort on Wednesday, Schrader said, as various agencies, including the Aberdeen Police Department and their drone and canine search groups.

“We spent a lot of resources out there all day,” Schrader said. “We searched till about 3 p.m. yesterday.”

Schrader recommended people letting others know when they are leaving in order to prevent confusion, panic and full-blown search and rescue efforts.
