Pe Ell-Willapa Valley’s Olivia Matlock named Pacific League MVP

Titans junior pitcher dominated in the circle, at the plate in 2021

After an outstanding season at both the dish and in the field, Pe Ell-Willapa Valley junior Olivia Matlock was named the 2B Pacific League Most Valuable Player for the 2021 season.

Matlock put up prodigious numbers this season, batting .633 with eight home runs and 33 RBI and sporting a sparkling 13-1 record with a 1.08 ERA and 109 strikeouts in 65 innings pitched.

Several of Matlock’s PWV teammates were also named to the First Team, including Raegan Portmann (.489, 8 2B, 3 3B), Annika Mason (.542, 8 2B, 21 RBI), Ava Bush (.541, 7 2B, 16 RBI) and Merissa Frasier (.511, 7 2B, 14 RBI).

League-rival Ocosta also had several players named to the First Team after a successful season.

Wildcats Lillyan Barnum (.487, 3 HR, 25 RBI), Annika Hollingsworth (.425, 16 RBI, 1.036 OPS) and Ronni Graham (.333, 21 R, 15 RBI) were all named to the league’s top list.
