Elma’s Molly Johnston honored by Seattle Seahawks

SEATTLE — The Seattle Seahawks, CenturyLink, Inc. and KIRO Radio announced Molly Johnston of Elma High School as the week one CenturyLink High School Athlete of the Week on Tuesday. Molly will be recognized on the field at CenturyLink Field during the Oct. 7 game against the Los Angeles Rams.

Johnston, a senior at Elma High School, was selected Athlete of the Week based on her leadership through athletics, academics, and community action. She holds a 4.0 GPA and is National Honor Society President of her school, while also volunteering at several youth sporting programs within her community. She is a summer camp counselor, fastpitch clinic volunteer and participates in the Little Dribblers Program, coaching over 50 elementary school students in basketball.

As a junior, Johnston was captain of her softball, basketball and soccer teams.

Last season, she led her softball team to the state championship, while also making a state appearance in soccer and a deep run in basketball.

Molly is described by Elma assistant softball coach Ashley Stancil as “one of the most selfless, kind, and hardest working players you’ll find.”

Johnston will be recognized at her school in front of families, peers and teachers, as well as at a Seahawks game. She will also receive a $1,000 grant from the Seahawks to the Elma High School athletic department, tickets and sideline passes to a Seahawks game, a customized football and a customized 2018 Seahawks jersey.
