William “Bill” C. Cable passed away on May 10, 2018, at the age of 65, in Hoquiam.

William “Bill” C. Cable passed away on May 10, 2018, at the age of 65, in Hoquiam. Bill was born in Aberdeen to Carl Cable and Geraldine Hensley Collins of North Carolina on Jan. 13, 1953.

A longtime Hoquiam resident, Bill was a proud graduate of Hoquiam High School, class of ‘71. Following graduation, he worked in the grocery business and was employed at Swanson’s, Safeway and Thriftway and worked the graveyard shift stocking shelves. He was known to have great stories to share about the funny things that happen when the stores close in the evening. His favorite employment was as a custodian at the Hoquiam Elks Lodge 1082, which he held for several years until he started experiencing health issues related to junior diabetes, diagnosed at the age of seven.

Bill was a longtime member of the Hoquiam Elks and served the offices of Tiler and Inner Guard. Known as “Little Bill”, he was highly respected by all the members and Emblem Club. One of his highlights at the Elks was playing cards with the guys after lodge meetings. As the last survivor, the group is back together.

Bill is survived by his brother, Don and his wife Bonnie; nephew Bob; niece Laura Luko; a brother Joe Cable of North Carolina, and numerous cousins. Preceded in death are his father in 1974, brother Bob in 1980, and his mother in February 2018.

Bill was a resident of Hoquiam Manor for several years and made many friends. His closest friend, Sherri Weber, has arranged a gathering in Bill’s name for his classmates, family and friends at Hoquiam Manor, 525 8th Street, on June 16, from 12:30 – 3:30 p.m.
